Toxoplasmosis

Some pet cats who hunt mice or birds can get an infection which is called toxoplasmosis. This infection is found in a cat's faeces ; accidental ingestion or direct handling  of the faeces by a pregnant woman could put her and the developing foetus at risk. This infection can cause severe problems for the baby. For this reason,an  expected mother should not change the litter box.
A pregnant woman cannot be infected by touching her cat,or having the cat sleep in bed with  her.
Most indoor cats do not hunt , and have never been exposed to toxoplasmosis that's why they  pose no risk to a pregnant woman or the baby.
Be ware that toxoplasmosis can exist in the soil(where cat faeces may be),so an expected mother should wear gloves and wash her hands after working in the garden.
